OUR HISTORY
MY Trust has an illustrious history, dating back to 1355. For generations, we have provided unwavering support and essential community care long before any public welfare system existed. Find out more about the history of our family of charities and trusts below.

THE HISTORY OF MY TRUST
On 1 April 2026, two of the West Midlands’ most historic charitable organisations came together in a merger that reflects both deep roots and a forward‑looking vision.
The union of Sir Josiah Mason Trust (SJMT) and the Yardley Great Trust Group bring together nearly a thousand years of charitable legacy, creating a stronger platform to meet modern social needs while safeguarding centuries of generosity.
THE HISTORY OF SIR JOSIAH MASON TRUST
SJMT is a family of seven separate charities supporting those most in need in the West Midlands. The vision is for everyone, regardless of age or circumstances, to feel secure, have opportunities and to thrive.
SJMT provides safe, affordable and well-maintained alms-housing, community and housing related support and services to advance the opportunities of children and young people in need.
Everything SJMT does is rooted in the 370 year history and driven by a vision for the future.

THE HISTORY OF YARDLEY GREAT TRUST

Yardley Great Trust is not a single charity born at a single moment in time. It is the living outcome of centuries of local generosity, shaped by many benefactors, responding to changing needs, and united by one enduring purpose: to care for people in Yardley and its neighbouring communities in times of need.
